...
It was a rather slow day today. Lace and I did however get a pretty good walk in today.
..but for most of the rest of the day she slept...
...like most days.
...
Earlier in the day I decided to drive up 93 and sit at the gravel pull off...you know...the one that looks out at the flatirons over the community ditch area?
It was pretty.
I decided I would do a time lapse.
...
Again, I pulled the trigger manually...mostly because I didn't feel like taking my computer out there. So I set up my camera on a tripod inside my car and I was ready to go (with window rolled down).
With remote in hand I decided to strap my watch to the steering wheel of my car for easy observation. I then decided to do a similar shoot as last night and pull the trigger every 15 seconds.
I did this for approximately 2.5 hours.
The condensed film is just under 1 minute.
...
I was really surprised at how patient I was doing this. I just sat there and listened to music. I did happen to talk to Carolynn on the phone for a good chunk of that time though (Carolynn is a good friend of mine from high school. She currently lives in Las Vegas).
As I reviewed the movie for the first time I was amazed at the things that happen in the world that you never see. I sat there for that whole time but saw everything happening so slowly. My life had turned into segments of 15 seconds. Sometimes I would look out at the cars driving by me. I would watch people look out at the flatirons as they came into Boulder. They smiled. So I smiled.
It is crazy to see the world move past so fast (in time lapse). I was lonely while sitting on that pull off...but it was okay...the world seemed right for that 2.5 hours...
...and not only right...but clear and understood.
It was meditative.
I knew my focus.
I knew my goal.
Pull the trigger every 15 seconds.

You should feel what I feel.

remember being little and not even calling friends and just showing up at their houses, asking if they could come out and play? anyway, yes, let's play soon. sometime this week. i still need to decide on a photo. your pup is adorable. and the time-lapse videos are super cool. you should definitely do the sleeping one.
bravo. 600 images. that's a lot.
that's commitment to your art.
i never realized how fast the clouds move in two hours... also, you timed yourself every fifteen seconds for 2.5 hours? that's impressive!
