...
Spent some time with Teri today.
...
SO here is the deal:
Canon 40d.
Only about 3 months old.
And shit is breaking on it.
...
While shooting some pictures Saturday night, I see through the viewfinder that when I spin the thumb dial (while shooting manually) the aperture setting is NOT changing. Feeling that perhaps I did not turn the power switch to the second ON position (doing so enables use of the thumb dial) I felt around and realized that was not the case...the power switch was in full position.
I sat around messing with it and getting pissed off...and well...deciding its broken. The camera still takes photos...but changing exposure compensation/aperture (when shooting manually which I prefer) / reviewing and deleting photos not possible.
...
Knowing I was going to see Teri, I thought, well, I'll bring it along anyways, I wont be able to review any of the photos...and I can't shoot manually...so I'll just use aperture priority or some shit like that.
Which I do
But then I realized another part of that fucker broke.
The toggle switch right above the thumb dial.
FOR EXAMPLE : I can no longer access ANYTHING on the embedded menu.
This is a problem for one major reason.
Feeling that maybe something in the firmware got hung up, and stopped getting information from the thumb dial, I removed BOTH batteries. Doing so will kill the camera and basically reset it (I think). Which means...the image format changed back. It isn't set to shoot in camera RAW format...and now I can't change it back.
...
I am pissed.
What this means is that I canceled TWO Momentum photo shoots today feeling that it might be a waste to not be able to shoot manually (especially if I was using some off camera strobes) or shoot in RAW. I felt it not worth anyone's time doing the shoot unless I was 100% sure of the quality of the photos...and NOT being able to control the entire camera was fucking that up.
I also need to shoot a wedding on Saturday...and I have to send my camera in for the warranty...and I will not get it back in time.
BUT : Scott has graciously agreed to lend me one of his 1 series camera bodies and L lens.
Which is awesome.
But I am still pissed.
What the fuck is wrong with my camera...and why are more and more buttons becoming unresponsive?
PISSED.
...
On a side note, it was very nice to see Teri today.
...
Still pissed.
