Day 418

3/8/2008

taken : 3/8/2008

...

Last night after dinner, Audrey and I packed up a headed off with a group of her friends to the Middlebury College Snow Bowl a short drive away from campus. Armed with snowshoes, our mission was to hike the bowl to a smallish cabin at the top. By the time we arrived it was snowing like a crazy Colorado blizzard. It wasn't too bad of a hike...I mean seriously...I am from Colorado...no big deal.

The cabin was very small, and very wooden. There was a wood burning stove in center and one of the doors was duct taped shut due to snow drafting in.

Oh wait...

Did I mentioned that Luke, a friend of Audrey's, hiked a pony keg up to this cabin?
Well he did. In fine style too.

Besides vulgar jokes, funny stories, and gargoyles...there was quite a lot of singing.

...

In the morning the storm had passed and the bowl was covered in a thick fog. I packed up and headed out early with some of Audrey's friends hoping I might be able to see Katya today (which didn't happen). The hike down was quiet.

It was like wading through the velvet sea.

...

A side note...over night there was also a bit of rain...which froze everything...and all of these east coast kids thought that the groomed (frozen ice) runs would make for good skiing today?

"Seriously" I thought?

...I mean...

again...

I

AM

from Colorado.
